Introduction to Emotional Intelligence
This introduction to the emotional intelligence program is designed to give you a foundational understanding of emotional intelligence and its relation to workplace and leadership effectiveness. Participants will learn the differences in IQ vs. EQ and describe the EQ-i 2.0® model and its competencies. You will walk away knowing the benefits of emotional intelligence and how applying these skills to the workplace will enhance your professional effectiveness.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand, express, and manage your own emotions, develop and maintain good social relationships, and think clearly and solve problems under pressure. This course will cover how emotional intelligence is a critical component of personal and professional success.
Just like IQ (intelligence quotient) is a numerical value correlated with cognitive ability or traditional intelligence, EQ (emotional quotient) is a numerical value associated with emotional intelligence. Your IQ might get you in the door, but your EQ, or capacity to engage with others and regulate your own emotions, will decide your level of success in your life and career.
This introductory course will provide you with a basic understanding of emotional intelligence, why it is essential and help you identify your personal strengths and development opportunities in the 15 emotional intelligence competencies from the EQ-i 2.0® model. This program is broken down into ten videos to teach you how to use your emotional intelligence to set yourself apart.
